“Invictus”为Morgan Freeman又争取到一次获得奥斯卡奖的机会，也为电影剧本的原著作者提供了一次再版书籍的机会。原著人物传记“Invictus: Nelson Mandela and the Game That Made a Nation”在电影上映前一个月再版了这本书，并使用了电影的海报作为封面。这种出版方式还是很常见的，借助电影的势头让书再热销一次。很多人会在电影未上映前买来书看一下，不过这个逻辑在这本书上，放到中国效果可能会优点差。

法律出版社引进了这本书，不过恐怕并没能获得电影发行方的授权，所以只能在数的上半段使用了一下Morgan Freeman在海报中的背影，甚至连英文字体都没敢和电影使用一样的。书的背面使用了那张经典的Nelson Mandela与François Pienaar握手的照片。这本书的出版时间竟然比美版的再版时间还要早上几个月，看来国内出版商的发行意识现在还是挺强的。

说回这本书。作者John Carlin是一名体育记者，牛津大学毕业，除了在各个报纸担任体育评论员外，还写过一些关于足球的书。“Invictus”是他作品中颇具影响力的一本，书中主要讲述了南非独立后首任总统曼德拉，以足球比赛来宣扬自己的种族政策，化解根深蒂固的种族矛盾，让这项南非的全民运动成为一剂柔和的解药。

中文版译名：“不可征服:纳尔逊.曼德拉治国传奇”，公分十九章，在书封内页还有一首William Ernest Henley（1849-1903 英国诗人）的诗Invictus，曼德拉曾在狱中读过它。
